The letter includes a hand drawn calligraphy card "Miss Lake Sullivan Ripley, Tennessee" with image of a bird made by "Mr. Scott"; mentions exams and concert performance; may be written by Lucy G. Holman who graduated from Montgomery Female Academy in 1877 (she was the daughter of Dr. George P. and Martha F. Homan who lived in the Old Jailer's House at 203 W. Main St., Christiansburg (see census and Kanode, 42, 108, 262))
